BOS 2 MEAL - PIZZA NIGHT

BOS 2 MEAL - PIZZA NIGHT IreneC Sun, 26/07/2026 - 14:06

BO2 2 COMPETITION MEAL

We are pleased to be in a position to offer a competition meal at the final BOS round this year.

It will be a Pizza Night at Fforest Fields campsite, similar to the very successful evening last year. It will be held on Thursday 13 August (7.30pm - 9.00pm). If it is a good flying day those returning late after an XC, will have their order boxed for later.

PRICE

The meal will be FULLY SUBSIDISED for:

  • Pilots registered before 1 August
  • Retrieve drivers registered on the Coordinated Retrieve System (Details of how to register will follow in due course)
  • Special Guests

For everyone else the cost will be £20 per head.

The Pizza Night Order Form (one per order) will be emailed to all pilots and posted here as soon as possible on (or after) 1 August. It needs to be submitted by end of day on Wed 13 Aug to be sure of a place.

Late orders will be considered on an individual basis depending on our capacity to process them and the campsite's flexibility - we have been asked to give them a week's notice. There is likely to be a charge for late orders.

Pilots are asked to ensure that the order form is passed on to their drivers and any others who may be coming along.

If you have a query please give Irene a shout

Here is a list of sites we may use depending on the weather/wind direction.

Tailbridge
Stags Fell
Semerwater
Dodd Fell
Grove Head
Fremington
Nappa Scar

Please read the DHPC sites guide before hand

https://www.dhpc.org.uk/sites

Dodd Fell (east) is not in the sites guide but site information will be given at the briefing if we do go there. It will require a capable 4wd to access TO

Stags Fell is also 4wd but a 2wd may get up if there is enough grip. This is a members only site for which we have the club and estate management permission to use for during the week of the competition use only. PLEASE READ THE SITE RULES BEFORE SATURDAY!!

There are lots of sites that may look suitable on the wind rose but for various reasons they are not suitable for a competition

We may also be using The Model Ridge on the North Yorkshire Moors if there is a northerly

HG Competitions 2026 Panel Election

HG Competitions 2026 Panel Election Neil Sat, 05/09/2026 - 15:41

HG Competitions 2026 Panel Election

This has been a successful season for BOS with 8 scoring tasks flown over the two BOS competitions which is more than we’ve achieved for quite a few seasons. In addition the UK Nationals was held in Laragne, France in cooperation with the Czech Nationals. Organised by Oliver Moffat and with Jenny Buck as meethead the event had 5 successful tasks over the 7 days.

However we are saying goodbye to several key people this year..

Martin Colclough is stepping down as our goto meethead to concentrate on his PhD. We wish him well and thank him for his patience in herding us all onto the right hill and into the air over multiple competitions.

The panel is losing two people this year and one after the new financial year starts.

Andy Lumb has done sterling service setting and formalising our safety policy and again we thank him for his hard work on this and other tasks.

Jon Sacre is also stepping back after many years of service. He covers many roles including negotiating venues as well as coordinating transport to ensure no cars are left on the hill and that everyone gets back from their XC flights with the minimum of stress for all.

Irene Carson who for a long time acted as the BOS lead and has set-up the current organisation. She also was a key lead in the Pilot Development Framework and a keen advocate for the Sports class in UK comps.  This last year after the untimely loss of our long term treasurer and friend Steve Penfold she has stepped into the Treasurers role.  This has taught us some very sharp and painful lessons about not having a single point of access.  Irene will remain in post until the new financial year so that she can train the new treasurer. I would like to thank her for the absolute powerhouse she has been in all these roles and on the panel and wish her and Donnie all the best going forward.

Should you wish to apply to join the panel please send your name into the ukhgcompspanel@gmail.com account by the end of September so we can if necessary run an election before the panel planning meeting in November should there be more than 3 candidates.

If you feel there are any tasks associated with the competitions run by the panel that you can assist with and haven't already had a discussion please feel free to discuss with any of the current panel members as not everyone helping has to be on the panel.
